BB #8: Reader Consent in Romance + Weekly Wrap-Up
This week’s edition is coming to you while I’m preparing for a hurricane to pass through Florida (fingers crossed no evacuations are needed!). But amidst all the storm prep, I’ve packed this newsletter with some really fun content to cozy up with, including thoughts on reader consent in romance, a pumpkin spice latte recipe from one of my favorite food blogs, and a roundup of some very eclectic reads.
Here’s what’s on the menu this week:
Reader Consent in Romance: We’re diving into the importance of trigger warnings and how they allow readers to fully consent to the books they read, especially when it comes to darker themes.
Book-to-Movie Adaptation: Some exciting Netflix news that’s sure to have you buzzing!
Weekly Reading Update: This week, I’ve tackled everything from a cozy romantic mystery to erotic horror (yes, you read that right), gaming enemies-to-lovers, a gothic historical, and even a funny historical.
Music Vibes: Sharing a wild mix this week, from a freestyle jam to the fact I discovered Italian country was a thing, say what? You’ll have to listen to see what I mean!
Pumpkin Spice Latte Recipe: Is it even fall if you’re not drinking a PSL? I’m sharing my go-to recipe from one of my favorite food bloggers, just in time for peak pumpkin spice season.
So grab your coffee (or pumpkin-spiced beverage of choice), and let’s dive into all the bookish fun!

What’s New This Week
So, as I’m writing this, I’m getting prepped for a hurricane to roll through Florida tomorrow. Yep, it’s one of those weeks! I’ve got my fingers crossed that we don’t have to evacuate, but just in case, I’m gathering all the essentials: snacks, books, and, of course, a fully charged Kindle.
If any of you are in Florida (or have been through hurricane season before), you know the drill—lots of waiting and hoping that it doesn’t get as bad as predicted. I’m keeping positive vibes going, but I’ll admit, it’s a little nerve-wracking.
Here’s hoping we can ride it out safely, and I’ll keep you posted if things get wild over here. And for anyone in the path, stay safe. For now, I’m diving into my hurricane reading list, so at least there’s that! And the best part is that the Kindle battery life is amazing so it should keep me company even if we loose power for a few days.
On a more fun note, the Hallmark holiday movie lineup is out! I know it’s early, don’t come at me, but mid October will be here before you know it.
