Welcome to a Day in the Life of a Book Content Creator
Let me take you behind the scenes of what it’s like to juggle multiple projects as a book content creator—spoiler: it’s a little chaotic, but never boring. I still have a day job but I’m lucky that I work from home and there’s days when I can fully dedicate to creating content. Here’s a snapshot of one of those days from this past week:
5:30 AM: The alarm rings. Do I jump out of bed? Not quite. I indulge in a bit of snoozing or doomscrolling (depending on the day) until 6:00 AM, followed by breathing exercises and meditation. By 6:30 AM, I’m savoring my first cup of coffee—a 30% coffee and 70% chicory blend as I attempt to reduce my caffeine intake. Let me tell you, caffeine withdrawal headaches are no joke!
7:00 AM: It’s time for my morning co-working session with Laura from What to Read Next and Victoria from Bibliolifestyle. These sessions are a mix of brainstorming, content planning, and actual blogging. We meet every morning Monday-Friday. Some days we’re chatty; other days, we work in companionable silence. (Paid members, scroll down—I’m sharing an hour-long video from one of our sessions so you can peek into our process!)
9:00 AM: Breakfast today is a delightful mix of Greek yogurt with berries, honey, almonds, pumpkin seeds, fig marmalade, and dates. Yes, it’s as delicious as it sounds. And yes, I’m already on coffee cup #2. This may be accompanied by some social media scrolling or reading depending on the mood.
10:00 AM: To prepare for recording a new releases podcast, I take my work to the balcony to enjoy some fresh air. It’s been chilly (cold even!) for Florida, so I bundle up in a cozy blanket while diving into my Notion book release database (available to paid members) to select five upcoming books I’m excited about or can recommend. I gather affiliate links, book covers, and start scripting.
10:30 AM: After that, I fit in some physical therapy at home (I’m still recovering from a foot injury after falling down the stairs and it’s been a journey, but progress is progress!). I’m now practicing walking without my brace for short periods—half an hour today!
11:30 AM: I record the podcast using Descript, my go-to tool for recording and editing. From there, I upload the episode to Captivate, write the show notes with a little help from ChatGPT, and voilà—the podcast is ready to go.
1:00 PM: Lunch is my main meal of the day, and I use this time to cook and spend quality moments with my mom (I’m her caretaker) . It’s a refreshing break before the afternoon tasks and always full of laughs.
3:00 PM: The post-lunch slump hits, but I combat it with my essential afternoon coffee. Without it, I’d undoubtedly be dozing off at my desk!
3:30 PM: The afternoon is dedicated to working on the new version of my Content Creator Notion Template—part of the upcoming Life Operating System template for Inkspire. I love how varied my days are; switching between Notion templates, blog posts, or recording podcasts keeps things exciting. Plus, I received some book mail and an early birthday present from Suzanne today—pictures included above!
7:00 PM: It’s family time! After a light dinner with my mom, my husband and I then wind down watching our show of the day. We just finished binging the Colombian telenovela The Influencer on Netflix (it’s wild, in the best way), and we’re debating what to start next—maybe the new Virgin River season? In the meantime, we watched the movie Run All Night. Can definitely recommend too!
9:00 PM: I wind down the day with tea and some breathing exercises. I keep telling myself I’ll start journaling at night… but so far, it hasn’t happened. And then there’s some extra reading time. Sometimes that can go all night and sometimes I’m more mindful of getting rest.
Being a content creator means every day is different, and that’s one of the best parts. Whether it’s planning, reading, or filming, there’s always something to keep me inspired.
It’s your turn! What’s your daily routine like?
Database Update: I’ve been working on adding tons of February 2025 book releases to our database. If you’re a paid member of Substack, you have access to it!
