I read a Sally Hepworth book once in a while just to shake things up. Not quite stabby, but definitely a bit dark and twisted.
I can't say stabby dark serial killers would do it for me, but woohoo on busting through your reading slump. Though, on occasion, I can be tempted into the dark. :)
